Your body holds the innate power to heal itself.
Acupuncture’s role is to catalyse your body’s natural healing abilities by guiding it back to its optimal state of health.
Through a deep understanding of the interconnectedness of the body’s systems, a diagnosis is reached by recognising patterns and root causes, rather than just treating symptoms.
Celia practices a combination of Five Elements Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine. Five Elements acupuncture works on a constitutional level, leading to deep and individualised treatments.
Traditional Chinese Medicine is a style of acupuncture effective for treating disease caused by external factors such as environment, lifestyle and diet.
What to Expect
At your first consultation, Celia will spend time talking through your health history and lifestyle, asking questions in order to understand your health issues and your constitutional type, assessing your tongue and feeling your pulses.
You will also receive your first treatment at your initial consultation so It’s a good idea to wear loose clothing for comfort and easy access to your back and lower limbs.

Acupuncture needles are inserted and left for around 20 minutes, during which you might feel tingling, heaviness, a dull ache or warmth.
Most find treatment deeply relaxing. There will sometimes be a small bruise where the needle was inserted. Occasionally, people can feel dizzy or tired after a treatment, but this passes quickly.
The needles used are hair-thin presterilized, single use, made from surgical steel.
A course of treatment is typically 5 to 10 sessions but this varies from person to person.
You might notice improvements starting after the first treatment or it might take longer.
Acupuncture is suitable for all ages, including babies. It is helpful for many childhood problems, including asthma, hay fever and digestive disorders.
The Energetics of the Human Body
The human body is a remarkable symphony of energy in constant motion, far beyond mere physical structure.
At its core, every cell hums with bioelectric activity, as ions flow across membranes to generate nerve impulses and muscle contractions, while mitochondria convert nutrients into cellular energy.
This dynamic flow powers everything from the rhythmic beating of the heart to the rapid firing of thoughts in the brain, creating an intricate bioenergetic field that extends beyond the skin.
Chinese medicine describes this as qi, or life force, circulating through meridians, while modern biophysics measures electromagnetic emissions from metabolic processes.
Ultimately, the body is not a mechanical vessel but a vibrant, self-sustaining energy system, perpetually transforming food, oxygen, and light into the vitality that sustains movement, healing, consciousness, and life itself.

Working closely with osteopaths on approaches to treating musculo-skeletal issues including back and shoulder pain and having run menopause workshops, Celia has built a unique portfolio over the last 25 years bringing the knowledge, experience and personal touch to assist you.
Celia is passionate about treating the whole person: mind, body and spirit. Some disease has external causes, some has internal causes (such as grief, worry or unresolved anger); most disease is caused by a combination of both. Acupuncture enables healing on each of these levels.
Within Chinese medicine, there is no “one solution fits all”. Every human is unique and therefore needs treatment tailored individually to them. To complement the acupuncture and to help retain good health beyond treatment, every patient will be offered lifestyle and nutritional advice according to their individual needs.
